For those of us who seem to have an unexplainable but built-in essential need to travel, especially to off the beaten path destinations like I generally prefer, the last 12 months have been tough.
2020 has been an unprecedented year, and COVID has affected the fabric of our society and our families like nothing that any of us alive today have experienced before.
But for people who are happiest when on the road discovering off the beaten track destinations, especially people who are single like me, there has been that extra level of change which, for many, has been difficult.
That’s why I have decided to book a trip in West Africa for 2022. I never plan more than 6 months in advance, so this feels strange, but have decided that now is finally the time to book something as a morale boost after the past 12 months.
And… I thought it best not to plan anything for this year until we know what’s happening, even though it’s been so long since I was last on the road travelling due to work.

It’ll be some time before the blog for this trip is online. This is as it’s still more than a year until I travel, and because I always post when I return rather from the road both so that I can enjoy the trip and for security reasons.
But I’m sure I’ll have a lot to talk about… assuming travel is possible again in 2022!
