Whenever you visit another country it’s always interesting to experience public transport when you can, as opposed to using a private vehicle for everything, as I think this gives you a greater understanding of the country that you’re visiting.
We didn’t use public transport much on this trip, as most of it was by minibus, and I walked everywhere in Marrakech as it was quicker. However, we did have a chance to experience a Moroccan long-distance coach this afternoon, on our way back to Marrakech.
Travelling by coach to Marrakech
The coach departed from outside the office of the company, a few minutes walk from our Riad. Our bags were taken there by push cart, as they were when we arrived, and there was only a short wait before it was time to board.
The coach was great – comfortable seats, plenty of leg room, and air conditioning – which made the journey to Marrakech enjoyable. The journey time was only 3 hours, including a bathroom break half-way, through some amazing scenery and we arrived into the main coach station of Marrakech just after 5pm.
A short taxi ride later and we were back at the Hotel Le Caspien, where we started this tour and where we are ending it tonight.
Our final group dinner in Marrakech
The plan was to have dinner in the main restaurant of the hotel but it was too busy, and so we opted to eat on the roof terrace (accompanied by cocktails) which had a great atmosphere.
This was our last meal as a group, as we are all heading our separate ways tomorrow, and so we made the most of the evening – talking about the highlights of the trip, and exchanging contact details in case we wanted to stay in touch.
I didn’t stay until the end of the evening, as I need to get up early ready for an 08:30 taxi to the airport. I’m back in my room now, getting everything packed for the journey home, but I had a good time.
This has been a great trip, even though it’s not of the style that I normally do. However, Morocco has been on my to-do list for some time, so it was great to finally have a chance to visit.
Not only that, but this is the first group trip I’ve been on where there isn’t somebody who’s really annoying for the entire time you’re with them, which was definitely a pleasant change. We all got on really well on this trip, which is exactly what I needed.
